Christmas Time!

I've decided to get the blog going again because I have a lot of exciting projects come up! First are the Christmas projects: one for the Dungeons & Dragons group and one for my niece.

The D&D group project is making dolls of everyone's favorite character to role play. Well, except for the resident Brony in the group. He's getting a custom pony using Fashion Rarity as a base. I'm very excited about this project, since I get to use a variety of skills and different techniques. I even had some fabric printed especially for one of the dolls: a cleric of Evening Glory. Once the fabric comes in, I'll post some pictures. If I'm satisfied with it, I'll put it up for sale over at Spoonflower.

You're probably wondering what's so special about the cleric of Evening Glory. Well, her player was my exchange partner, so I'm allowed to go a bit overboard. I wanted to use a patterned fabric for the underskirt, since the way my friend described her kind of screamed "Gothic Lolita." The other characters are a female conjurer, a male evoker, a male healer, and a female sorcerer, and one unknown female. It's kind of funny that everyone chose a spell caster (though I originally chose a male rogue, but I dropped out of the exchange).

I'm using Moxie Teenz as a base for each of the dolls. Most of them have fair skin, so if I can't find anymore first wave Tristen dolls, I'm going to have to go with current edition Tristen and Leah and buy wigs for them (half the group doesn't know what they are looking for). I'm also going to be putting in an order for eyes or at least I will once I know what color eyes the last doll has (the order is between three and four pairs of eyes, so that's pretty big considering I'm going to be ordering from Safrin Doll, and I don't want to overwhelm the very nice lady over there).

Now, the Brony's gift. I mentioned that I'm using a Fashion Rarity as a base. You're probably wondering why that's important. Well, I thought about that long and hard about it, and I want to do my part to keep the Playful Ponies on the shelves for the children. They sell out quick in my hometown, and I don't want to think about some poor kid being deprived because of me. The Fashion Ponies are always overstocked here, so I figured picking up one won't be depriving a poor child of a toy. I'm not actually going to buy any Monster High or Liv dolls for myself until after the holiday season for the same reason.

My last Christmas project is for my niece. It's kind of a tricky one, since I don't actually see her that often. I was thinking about making her a custom Monster High doll. I was thinking about it. So, I have a headless, hairless, nude Ghoulia sitting on my work table, but for about the same price as the overall cost of materials, I can get a Make It Mine (or rather MiM). I think she might enjoy MiM a bit more because MiM can easily be changed to her (ever-changing) tastes. I know how kids are, and having a doll that can grow up with her could be kind of neat. I could get it for her, and for gift-giving occasions, I could make her some new clothes or a new wig or buy new eyes for the doll. It would be just like her uncle's grown-up doll.

So, I could use opinions on the matter. If you want to take a look at MiM, here's her website: http://www.mimtoy.com/home.php

You're probably thinking, but Tiefling, don't you have a Christmas wish? Yes, I do, but it's a little embarrassing. I want a doll. Typical, right? I don't want an expensive resin doll or a play line doll. I found a cheap ball jointed doll from Goodreau Doll Lab who is very handsome. He's not quite in scale with Delilah, but he'll do for my purposes. His name's Rusty, and the nude doll is only $70. The outfit I want is less than $30. You can check him (and the other OZ dolls) out here: http://www.goodreaudollstore.com/categories/Oz-Dolls/Dolls-%252d-Nude-or-dressed/

Those are the only things I want for Christmas. I'm just kind of afraid to ask, since it seems silly. Anyway, I'm going to get back to work on some of the gifts or maybe I'll wait until tomorrow.

Later, and happy holidays!
